1. How much do we know about Shakespeare's life? Why? We know Shakespere was born in April 23, 1564 in Stanford-upon-Avon and died the same day in 1616. he got married at the age of 18 with Anne Hathaway (26) and had one doughter and twins, but one of them died. In 1588, Shakespere went to London to become an actor and playwright. He also acted and wrote scripts to act in the Globe theatre. We know this because we have surving texts of hi and other peopole of that period of time.

12. How did each Monarch treat those who did not follow their favored religion?Queen Mary persecuted those that practiced Protestanism and they were burned alive. Queen elizabeth accepted the people that believed in Catholic religion and thay were treated without any difference as long as they did not attempt against peace.

13. Why did Queen Elizabeth I ban all performances of religious plays and stories? To stop the violence over religion.


14. What was the Elizabethan Period? The period of Renaissance, of new ideas and thinking

16. What was the most significant invention of this time and why? the printing press
17. What did this lead to a renewed interest in? books, information began to be spread and  was responsible for the interest in the different sciences and inventions 
18. During this period, what were unexplained events blamed on? witches 
19. Why were people of this period superstitious? Because of the new ideas, information and increased knowledge about science, technology and astrology
20. What were the four humours and what were they associated with? In ancient Greek and Rome, docters believed that the body was made of 4 humors of fluid: the blood, the black vile, the yellow vile and phlegm. I all of these were balanced, you were heltht, if not it would be unhelthy and his complexión and personality would be affected.

21. How was Elizabethan class structure maintained? One way the class structure was mantained was the role and things girls could do ( eg. Study).

22. What was the Chain of Being and what did it uphold? The concept of this was that “everything in the world has its own place”, so if you were born ina class you would always stay in that class.

23. What is the Rotae Fortuna? The rotae fortuna reffers to fate. The godess Fortuna spins it and some peole earn a great fortune and some people loose a great fortune.


24. What did education depend on? The social class of the family and the money they had.

25. What was the main purpose of schooling? To theach boy manners according to their social class and be hlpful members of socety.

26. Why were students taught Latin? Because it was the laguage of the educated all over Europe.

27. What were girls from wealthy families educated in? In private schools by the mid sixteen century or they were located by their family in a house of a friend or acquaintance.

29. Why were courses in university conducted in Latin? Because the men that want to be important need to have knowledge of Latin.

 

30. What was the general feeling towards plays during this period in time? The theater had a very bad reputation in this times, in fact plays were obbligated to be performed outside the city.

33. What happened to this theatre? It was burned, but then a “copy” was rebuilt.

34. Where did people sit or not sit? If the people were standing they would be in the open pit before the stage and if they were sitting they would be at the side of the stage.

35. When did they have performances? Why? In the afternoon because of the light.

36. How many women performed in these plays? No women performed in these plays.

37. What did the audience do if they didn't like the performance? They would shout at them and throw food at them.
